High Quality Adwords Image Ads

Have you ever tried uploading some new banner ads, ending up with Google completely messing up the quality of the images? You probably have or will if you’re ever going to use image ads.

1. Make sure your ads are below the maximum 50KB.
If your ads are larger than 50KB, Google will automatically adjust the quality to lower the size, usually resulting in some pretty messed up ads (especially if they contain a lot of text). A simple photo or image tool like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro will allow you to manually adjust the file size without loosing too much quality.

2. Using the Right Image sizes
Google has created a nice overview of all the available image formats, but they unfortunately forgot to mention that all sizes are incorrect.. The sizes on listed on their website all include the little “Ads By Google” bar. Using the formats as listed on this Google page will automatically make your ads look squeezed and resized. The correct sizes can be found on the Image Guidelines page:

* Banner: 468 x 49
* Leaderboard: 728 x 79
* Square: 250 x 239
* Small Square: 200 x 189
* Large Rectangle: 336 x 269
* Medium Rectangle: 300 x 239
* Skyscraper: 120 x 578
* Wide Skyscraper: 160 x 578
